Berlin – Jerusalem: A peace bell goes on a journey, Caye goes along

CAYE Berlin supports the welfare of horses

Last week an extraordinary journey began in Berlin: The Peace Track , starting at the Brandenburg Gate, 4800 km from Berlin to Jerusalem, through 11 countries, rough terrain, war zones – arriving in Jerusalem on Christmas Eve 2025.

Consisting of six horse-drawn carriages, 30 participants, support vehicles, private vehicles, a horse-drawn transporter, and a kitchen wagon, the 25-meter-long track set out with a very special destination and an even more meaningful message: "Pursue peace." The track carries a peace bell , cast from military scrap, specially crafted for the event, a moving symbol of reconciliation, understanding, and global solidarity. The word PEACE is inscribed on the bell in 16 languages. This bell will be presented on Christmas Eve to the "Hand in Hand School" in Jerusalem, a school for Jewish, Muslim, and Christian children. They grow, live, and learn.  with each other, a symbol of the unification of different peoples and religions.

This peace mission is led by Helmut Kautz , an old friend who has already married and buried people in our family, Protestant pastor of Meyenburg and prior of the “Marienfließ” monastery.

Caye Berlin is involved with heart and soul

It was a matter close to my heart to support this special path to peace. Not only because we have a personal connection with Helmut Kautz, but because our corporate philosophy is closely linked to the values of respect, mindfulness, and healing – for people, animals, and nature.

Horses are at the heart of this peace mission—they not only pull the carriages, but are silent ambassadors for gentle, respectful coexistence. Therefore, it was important to me to accompany their journey with products that provide them with strength, care, and protection.

Healing in Motion – Symbolism Meets Reality

The Peace Track is more than a journey. It is a rolling appeal to the world to pause, listen, and build bridges. At a time when crises, wars, and divisions shape global events, this path sends a clear message: Peace begins in small ways—in togetherness, in caring, and in the willingness to take responsibility.

I'm proud that our oils are now part of this movement. They not only contribute to the physical support of the animals, but also symbolize healing—a central theme on the path to peace.

Together on the way

The Peace Trail is not just a symbolic journey spanning thousands of kilometers—it is a vibrant path of encounter that touches, unites, and inspires people along the way. The trail passes through several countries, cultures, and language areas, and is intended to set an example for international understanding, dialogue, and compassion everywhere.

Events, encounters, and prayer services are planned along the entire route from Berlin to Jerusalem. In many towns and villages through which the horse-drawn carriages pass, the Peace Bell will be rung as a symbol of shared hope and action. People of different religions, backgrounds, and age groups are invited to experience this moment and share their own message of peace—be it through words, music, prayer, or simply by their presence.

Spontaneous encounters along the way are also expressly encouraged: the project thrives on togetherness, shared stories, and attentive listening. The horses and carriages act as decelerated mediators – they invite you to pause and open hearts.

The Peace Trail is open to fellow travelers. Those who would like to join the procession temporarily – on foot, by bike, on their own horse, or as volunteers on site – are welcome. It's not a traditional pilgrimage, but rather an open path of peace in which everyone can participate.

It's not about how far you get, but what you share: thoughts, experiences, compassion. Interested participants can also contact the organizing team in advance to participate in sections of the race or to help with logistics—be it feeding the horses, translating, or on-site press work.

I cordially invite you to follow the Peace Track and spread the word about this initiative. Further information and current reports can be found at www.friedenstreck.de .

Thanks to the team around Helmut Kautz for their courage, perseverance, and heart – and CAYE is proud to be a small part of this great mission.
